Goal Setting: Pops Proves Its Never Too Late
Pops first set the goal in high school, but when he graduated he thought he wasnt mature enough to pursue it so he enlisted in the U.S. Army.
He dreamed about it as a member of the 82nd Airborne as he became an Army Ranger. Later, in the first Gulf war, he thought about his goal again, as he also did during his service in the Kosovo conflict. For 20 years, through his Army career, a war, marriage and six children, Pops kept the dream and the goal alive.
Never mind that he was considered far too old to pursue his dream, Pops just couldnt let go.
When he retired from the Army at 39, he decided it was finally time to do something about the goal hed set so many years before. He moved his family to Columbia, south carolina and enrolled as a freshman at the University of south carolina.
No, he wasnt considered too old for that. Many others, much older, have pursued college degrees for the first time. What Tim Pops Frisby did was even more special. At an age when even most professional players have hung up there helmets, he began working out with the south carolina Gamecocks football team during the winter. Working out with players half his age, all of whom were young enough to be his son, he competed for a position on a Division One major College Football Team.
It was a goal that Pops had lived with for a long time and he began to realize it when coaches invited him back for fall drills. When South carolina kicked off their season against the University of georgia, Tim Frisby was on the sidelines wearing Gamecock jersey number 89. On September 25th, against Troy, the legendary Lou Holtz, head coach at South carolina, sent Pops into the game for its final four plays. I have a lot of respect for the guy, Holtz said. A Ranger, 20 years in the Army, six kids. He loves this team. I thought it would be good to get him in. Im sorry we could not throw it to him. But knowing the way that Pops Frisby makes his dreams come true, thats just a matter of time.
Frisby, who turns 40 in February, has been featured on ESPNs College GameDay. ABCs Good Morning America, CNN, the New York Times and the Los Angeles Times are all planning stories.
Incidentally, the father of six between the ages of six months and 16, also maintains a 3.88 (out of a possible 4.0) grade point average.
Still think its too late for your dream? goal setting and goal starting is a process that can start at any age and at any time. Theres no need to wait until January 1st to set or start a goal. goal setting and goal starting doesnt have to take place at the first of the month, or even the first of the week. I once started on a big goal at midnight on the 24th of the month.
Tim Frisby accomplished his goal and realized his dream for two simple reasons: he never let time take his dream away, and when the time finally came, he took action. It worked for Pops -- and itll work for you too!

Xbox 360 Emulator-What Is It
Microsoft's Xbox 360 is the latest among the power gaming consoles out in the market today. And because the new game console provides a more than normal playing experience, a number of individuals, groups and even companies have started the buzz or talks regarding the possible development of different types of emulators to allow them to play Xbox 360 in various platforms.
Basically, an emulator can either be a software emulator which enables the computer system to work on a totally different software program from the one which was originally installed. On the other hand, the hardware emulator comes in the form of a hardware device and is designed for multi platform operations.
Earlier in March this year, reports came out that nintendo Entertainment system or nes has released an emulator system dedicated for the Xbox 360. By making their own emulators, nes is able to allow the user to take the ROMs of most nes games and put them in the newer Xbox 360.
The use of console emulators began in the mid-90s. console emulators were used to then to repackage and reissue their older games on newer versions of their game consoles. An example of which is the repackaging of their games for the nintendo Wii which will allow for emulation of nes, SNES, nintendo 64, Sega Genesis, and TurboGrafx-16 games.
However, there's still a huge issue regarding the development of emulator programs and hardware. Since other game platforms are created by companies that are more or less competing in the same business, no single company will give the rights to its competitor to create emulators that will allow their games to run on the competitor's game console.
Xbox 360 was originally created by microsoft with the collaboration of companies like IBM, ATI, Samsung and SiS. The Xbox 360 was meant to replace the older Xbox game console which was also a product of microsoft. microsoft and its partners aimed to further improve the potential and capabilities of the Xbox by releasing the Xbox 360.
The new game console promised to give the best level of gaming experience unavailable from the older Xbox as well as from other brands and/or game console competition. It was proven to be such a popular game console. Since its release, millions of units have been sold not only across the country but all over the globe.
The Xbox 360 was created in such a way that the game consul is compatible with most of the Xbox's previously published games, especially the top selling ones. The 360 is backwards compatible so it doesn't actually need an emulator for older Xbox games.
Some consider emulators, either software or hardware, as illegal since they programs and hardware are used to change the games on a computer and can be modified to allow one to play pirated games. The Xbox 360 has a software emulator which allows them to play only original Xbox games since the creators of the game only licensed the hardware in the original Xbox.
Theoretically, however, one can emulate anything in an Xbox except for ps2 and gamecube. Several emulators are already available for consoles I've never heard of. Other popular consoles already have their own working emulators. Basically, you'll need an emulator and ROMs to be able to emulate in your Xbox. ROM is basically a game in a format that can be read and used by an emulator.

Diabetes Supplements Type 1
diabetes mellitus is a disorder in which the pancreas fails to secrete sufficient insulin or the bodys decreased ability to use insulin. diabetes mellitus is Greek for a passing through of sweetness which refers to the passing of sugar rich urine, a characteristic of the disease. It is a very serious disorder, sometimes fatal and is the leading cause of death in Western society because of its damage to the cardiovascular system.
In a healthy body food is digested to release glucose into the blood. This causes beta cells in the pancreas to release insulin into the bloodstream. insulin helps in the transportation of glucose from the blood to the liver and muscle cells. This can then be released later into the blood for metabolism. If the pancreas fails to produce sufficient amounts of insulin or if there is insulin resistance then diabetes will set in.
There are two types of diabetes, insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus (IDDM) also known as juvenile-onset diabetes, type 1 diabetes and non-insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus (NIDDM) also known as maturity-onset diabetes, type 2 diabetes. Both environmental and genetic factors contribute to both forms of diabetes mellitus but the exact cause of diabetes mellitus is unknown. In both types, excess sugar in the blood known as hyperglycemia needs to be removed by the kidneys. Excessive thirst, frequent urination, weight loss and hunger are the symptoms.
In type 1 diabetes the bodys immune system destroys the pancreas beta cells resulting in low insulin levels. To prevent death insulin injections are needed this is why it is called insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus (IDDM). It is most common in people under 20 years old and then persists throughout life; this is why it is also know as juvenile-onset diabetes. IDDM is most common in Northern Europe especially in Finland where 1% of the population develops IDDM before the age of 15 years.
In untreated IDDM the cellular metabolism is similar to that of a starving person. This is because the insulin is not present to help the glucose into the body cells, to produce Adenosine triphosphate (energy currency) most cells use fatty acids. Triglycerides are stored in adipose tissues which are catabolized to yield fatty acids and glycerol. The breakdown of fatty acids cause a byproduct of organic fatty acids called ketones or ketone bodies. The buildup of ketones causes a fall in blood pH which is known as ketoacidosis, if this is left untreated it can cause diabetic coma and death.
Weight loss is also caused by the breakdown of stored triglycerides. Lipids are deposited on the walls of blood vessels as they are transported by the blood from cells storage depots. This leads to atherosclerosis and cardiovascular problems such as cerebrovascular insufficiency, ischemic heart disease, peripheral vascular disease and gangrene. Sever kidney problems may also arise from damage to renal blood vessels. Loss of vision due to cataracts (excess glucose attaches itself to lens proteins) and damage to the retinas blood vessels.
To treat type 1 diabetes a regime of self-monitoring the blood glucose level (up to seven times a day), insulin injection (up to 3 times a day), exercise and regular meals containing 45-50% carbohydrates and less than 30% fats. This regime will keep the levels of insulin and sugar in the blood normal. It is also possible to have a pancreas transplant but immunosuppressive drugs must be taken for life. Eating foods containing carbohydrates such as rice, potatoes, bread and cereals will raise blood sugar and insulin levels. This sugar raising effect of a food is called the glycaemic index and it measure how quickly the carbohydrate is absorbed by the body. Studies have found that people with type 1 diabetes have better control over their blood sugar levels by following a low-glycaemic-index diet.
Diabetics with neuropathy (diabetic nerve damage) have found their condition improved by following a vegan type diet (avoiding all meat, eggs and dairy products). By avoiding meat and dairy products, the chances of developing heart disease and kidney problems which diabetics are susceptible to, are reduced. Diabetics who smoke are at higher risk of developing heart disease and kidney problems. Diabetics who consume above the daily recommended amounts of alcohol are more at risk of developing problems with their eyes.
